A great read Mara! All seems very obvious what went wrong from an outside point of view. That Aus vs Arg GDP chart with the timing of PerΓ³n should be posted out to the millions.
Interesting point regarding the stability in Argentina over countries like Venezuela & Cuba. Makes perfect sense.
Thanks Jordan! Yeah that chart is so crazy; especially if you think about the actual resources, population and demographics: Australia and Argentina are very similar in most perspectives, except initial settlement and land ownership. Technically they could have moved in the same direction. Itβs really policy decisions and trade agreements that made all the difference.
This analysis, while excellent, overlooks the fact that Argentina since 1930 or 1945 has been more akin to the 19th century civil wars era than to the 1865-1930/45 Golden Age in terms of instability and such.
You are so detailed and clear. We have been posting about Argentina for the past 20 years on blogs of one or another. Systemic change will be IMPOSSIBLE without changing the labor laws and many other things.
Excellent post
Thank you sir!

Thanks again, I learn a lot from your work.

This is spot on target. Excellent and totally correct. You nailed it.
Thanks man! It is such a crazy story, I hope with a change of government something will get done about this (during Macri they tried but time ran out)
