Great info! The US official version taught here ignores anyone we didn’t directly shoot at.

South and Central America are presumed to have somehow had no role or even idea that a war happened. Clearly impossible, but nuance and consideration of other nations has always been low on the priority list.

Thanks! Yeah it’s fascinating, before moving here I never read about it either. But Brasil for example entered WWII in 1942 already after German submarines torpedoed a couple of ships off the Brazilian coast, and sent about 25k troops over to fight the Axis powers in 1944. Something I had never read about before. Also explains why Argentina feared a war with Brazil, since the Argentines were still trading with Nazi Germany almost up until the end of the war.
