I would like to see you write about why ARG won't simply dollarize to USD. Mr Steve Hanke says it would be fast & effective? Have you read his plan? Nice to see a pros/cons, analysis.
Yeah speaking as a digital nomad who got to BA a few weeks back, its not that cheap here anymore. Last time I was here was 2018 and it's like 3 or 4x more expensive.
In terms of quality of life and safety, is there an alternative at the prices of Buenos Aires? From what I searched I did not find a cheaper country with a high quality of life
The week I came to BA, for the first time peso actually got stronger vs USD (I thought the cambio is giving me a shitty rate before realising what is going on), there was a mosquito pandemic (I got bitten a lot and fainted for a few seconds and then puked all over malbequeria because of it lol), it was cold and raining and deregulation made my steaks more expensive in real terms. Despite all of it, BA was still a lot of fun (went to Uptown party, Boticario cocktails, beer tasting in recoleta, vinotecas, etc.), can't wait to come back.
Thank you Julia! Jeez that sucks about the mosquitoes, it was really bad (literally haven’t seen anything like it). Come back soon, the Maras will be waiting 🫡
Are you saying that once the rates unify, you expect the peso to resume its devaluation vs the $?
No, once they unify my expectation is that it will continue to devalue
Interesting.

Dollarizing is the plan (actually open currency competition) but for that this rate combination first needs to be happen, and more reserves are needed

Also the mosquitos were horrible wtf! We escaped to Bariloche for 2 weeks and will be heading back soon.
Yeah that is definitely not normal to have so many, it rained a lot during summer (normally doesn’t happen)
Thanks.

It is still relatively cheap vs other cities; it is just not ridiculously cheap anymore
Brilliant article. Answered many of my questions.

p.s. I also saw many cute little Maras:)
