Tourist visas in the sense of entering multiple times and staying longer than 180 days per year? Yes I could totally see Argentina adopting a more stringent policy like in Brazil (which counts the days in the last 365 days, and if it’s over 180 days they refuse entry)
His image locally is not really affected by that at all - more pressing are costs of living etc (and free public services for non-residents / temp residents have been one of the campaign promises for a while; I doubt the Rentista will be affected for example)
That's a good idea! I saw Doug's video from a few weeks ago (he was discussing this with Matt on his YouTube channel and it looks like this is a transcript of that), but in the meantime Milei has already lifted the currency restrictions. I agree with the real FDI holding off until the midterms, my expectation is that will be the tipping point for bigger investments, also depending on how "expensive" Argentina is in USD terms, which will impact ROI.
Haha it’s partially true: he is releasing files on nazi war criminals in Argentina; and at the same time in the CIA files on JFK there was a document that had been released previously speculating on Hitler fleeing to Argentina and living in Bariloche after the war. That has been disproven though, but is always a great source for new theories
Gadz. Everything is being distorted by sensationalist bullshit. The news said there is a guy in Bariloche who gives tours showing Hitler's old house to the tourists! I think I need an internet vacation. Thanks! :-)
Haha that is also true, there are people trying to use that story to their advantage. The house they show is the address that appears in those CIA documents
The issue with public and free education for brasucas and healthcare toruism would be solved if Argentina ends the welfare state.
Pay an insurance (with a free market where insurance companies competing) that covers a medical treatment and in the case of educación only with a citizenship you could have access to a voucher that covered a certain percentage.
That is the humble opinion of an argue living abroad.
Great write up. We have been pushing for a Golden Passport program for over a year. I just don't think they are interested which is strange. Maybe now that his BFF Trump is doing a Gold Card program he will also do one. Monkey see monkey do.
Yes, it is insane to me that they still have not even considered this Golden Visa option. But you're right, maybe now Milei will come out with a "Milei DNI", lol
Its nuts they let that fiscal bleeding continue for so long. And for what political benefit, even? Medical tourists don't vote!
Exactly
Any changes coming for the lenient tourist visas?

I guess it will distract from his obviously scammy crypto project.

I would love to see your rebuttal or discussion with these points of view in this article.

Also, I would love it if you had an open thread here and there so I can pitch in every so often. :-)

Lots of stuff on the interwebs about Milei releasing old records about Hitler in Argentina. I figure it's BS since you haven't said anything.
Has he said he is planning to release some such files?
