As a futbol mad country, I imagine the own goal analogy is getting some good use down there right now.

What a frustrating unforced error. Year one was a triumph. I hope he can quickly get back on track.

Yeah, what a waste. It’s also a cost of opportunity, because these scammers took the place of legit entrepreneurs who could have pitched a better project, like a Free City.

Yeah that’s the most frustrating part: setting it up correctly or making Argentina a Bitcoin country would have been very successful with all the momentum around Milei

Wild to think that Milei was duped by someone like this. Thanks for write up on this and I'm sure the news about this is going to be a giant pile on your plate for a while.

Thanks! Yeah we still don’t know exactly but it does point in that direction - new info coming out every minute almost 😅

I just can't see how he would have knowingly done this. He's only 1 year in, his party is supposed to wreck shop this year, and his popularity is through the roof. Would make zero sense for him to knowingly get involved in a pump and dump scheme at this point in time.

But, who knows for sure. I'm just going by pure deductive reasoning here. Always look forward to your posts, Mara.

Did not have Mara writing about an Argie meme coin on SOL in my 2025 bingo card but here we are.

Perhaps someone could promote $elcacas to Petro to finally get him out of there

Personalized leadership is a major problem. The more powerful technology becomes, the more one person in a position of power can influence the entire system. At this rate, and with Milei's style of leadership we'll quickly reach a point where we can't trust human governance of the state at all, and we'll hand over all political decision-making power to AI agents. And then there will be no way back.

Great piece and we totally agree with your rationale and your input on this. This is horrible for Milei and does NOT look good.

99 pct of tokens in crypto are pump and dump scams. Maybe even 100 pct.

Milei acted like a retard or a scammer. Either way very bad. Do you want a con man or an idiot as the head of the state?

Definitely not great, Milei should focus on the economy and not this bs. But he is 100% preferable for Argentina vs a return of Peronism.

if Milei is a hero, imagine the villain, right?

This is the most frustrating thing that he would get caught up in something like this. As the other posted mentioned, he is either an idiot for getting duped or a scammer for being a part of it.

If you noticed in the past he has been quick to fire anyone that would make the government look bad or embarrass the government. He has said he will not change his administration. That makes you wonder if there is really no one to fire what the implications of this are.

Definitely he should just focus on the economy and nothing else right now. Nothing is worse than Peronism but the timing on this is terrible and the international community needs to believe that Argentina and it's leaders are capable of limited corruption.

The optics of this are terrible no matter how you slice it.
