Breathtaking to see a politician turn out to be exactly who he said he was and do precisely what he said he'd do before he was in power. He has the charismatic style but at the same time a deeply serious substance behind it. I brace myself to be disappointed by politicians; this one fails to disappoint time after time.
Fantastic piece as always! Where could I read more about this ñoquis phenomenon, or at least the history/purpose of so many public ostensibly useless public employees?
Thank you sir! The first link on the mention of ñoquis goes to the wikipedia page that has some more information, but the ñoquis grew really out of hand during the last decade and a half. There have been times before where this has happened (and cuts had to be made). I think the phenomenon can best be understood from a Peronist perspective: that is to have the State very much involved in companies through cronies and awarding positions to “friends and family” in the gvmt. This happened on macro and micro levels, I wrote about the 100-years of decline here: https://open.substack.com/pub/bowtiedmara/p/argentinas-century-long-decline?r=n12x&utm_medium=ios
That is excellent reporting!! ! It certainly seems as Milieu Is accomplishing exactly what he said he was going to and that’s awesome but I also heard he has gone full Zionist and is a member of world economic formum. I find that so hard to believe… is this just a stupid rumour or do you think that’s true? I even heard he is seen wearing a. Kippah at times?
Thank you sir! He has been a speaker at the WEF twice, once in 2015 after which he wasn’t invited back, lol. They make a profile for everyone who ever gave a speech there, but Milei is not a “member”. He gave another awesome speech right after he was elected. With regards to his interest in Judaism, he is originally a catholic but has become very interested in Judaism since around 2018 or so. With regards to Israel Argentina has one of the biggest Jewish communities after the US and France, and generally since the terrorist attacks in the 1990s by Hezbollah, many people are more pro Israel or at least anti Hezbollah/Hamas/Iran (Iran was directly involved in those attacks).
That is an interesting dynamics. Hope to see it play out in a libertarian way : more autonomy and freedom leads to competition. Which leads to better outcomes.

Yeah it is super refreshing to see, and to see him maintain his program even after so much pushback from the opposition and certain provinces

Yes, 100%
Would pointing out that they make American governors look hyper-competent change some attitudes for certain provinces?
That would be a good idea, to benchmark it and compare
